Have you ever found the most perfect pair of zip up summer shorts but you couldn't fit the right top to show them off? I was faced with this dilemma over the weekend and decided to take it to my own hands (literally). The wrap crop featured in this post with the gorgeous Dusk Contrast Shorts by Shilla is a makeshift top made out of an old black scarf :-O

The gorgeous Dusk Contrast Shorts are currently available in white (pictured above) and black (on website). Undoubtedly these are one of my favourite picks from their New Arrivals!

Market Gem Brown Cape, Colette Necklaces, Brown Wrap by ANNIEPOPSHOP, Marc Jacobs Watch, Givenchy Antigona Bag

The last time I blogged it was sunny, I was on my way to Vanuatu and New Caledonia and I couldn't wait to get in the sun!

 photo IMG_5266-1_zps5a4ea5c1.jpg

Now suddenly I'm draping myself in capes to shield from Australia's bipolar version of Autumn. Which I actually don't mind because I have a deep attraction to capes but the weather changes have caused me to be sick for almost an entire month and fall under the blogging radar. But I'm back now, with posts lined up for 2013 and first on the list is undoubtedly my amazing experience at the Christopher Hanna Platinum Salon in Paddington.

I would firstly like to thank the team at Christopher Hanna for inviting me to a fun night of champagne, food and pampering. I was placed in the very capable hands of their staff that helped me achieve the big lioness mane I wanted for the night!

I also got the chance to talk about the biggest problem I have with my hair which is having to always curl it because it is so limp when its naturally straight. They introduced me to the Evo Builder's Paradise Working Spray which I was given as a gift to take home along with many other Evo products...and it saved my hair! I haven't needed to endure the consequences of teasing my hair for volume and I don't need to worry about limp hair if I decide to get a keratin treatment later too.

The CH team too such great care when handling my hair that I've definitely found my hairdresser of choice and I can't wait to re-do my outgrown balayage with their balayage experts :)

If you're thinking about getting a balayage, they are currently running an introductory special of $140 for all new clients and I encourage you to take my advice and grab the bull by its horns! For more details about this deal click here.

Dangerfield Floppy Hat, Le Black Book Heart Suspender Stockings, YSL Arty Ovale Ring in Azure, ANNIEPOPSHOP Cuff, Alive Girl Skull Skirt, Mink Pink Top  [Photographed by: Photos For Kimberly]

A few weeks ago, Kimberly and I had a spontaneous day at the park with her camera. The last time we did something like this would have been nearly two years ago, can you believe it! I admit that it's been so long since I've been photographed outdoors and around actual human beings that it was hard for me to shake out of my awkwardness. I'm lucky Kimb has a good eye so we managed to get some pictures I could still use for today's blog post haha

And for those that follow my Facebook fanpage, last month I finally committed to buying myself the Crystal Accented Chronograph watch. All through the beginning of the year I've been at war with myself on whether or not to get the gold or rose gold, so I had a poll put up on my fan page and the majority of you convinced me to get the rose gold. Couldn't be happier with my decision, thank you for those that helped me decide :)

The Girl I Love Dress by Three of Something, Cuff & Ring by ANNIEPOPSHOP

I could be wrong, but I think this is the first time I've blogged in a maxi. Those that know me would know that its a rare sighting to see me in a maxi dress or long pants, they're two items of clothing that don't particularly flatter my shape. But I guess the high neck, open back and slit skirt of The Girl I Love dress by Three of Something is making me come around to the idea. There are also plenty more prints and dresses from their Spring and Summer 2012 campaigns that I have my eye on! To view it click here.

And for those that don't already know: I'm giving away three Clearasil PerfectaWashes, I've featured the PerfectaWash in my YouTube videos so if you'd like to give the product a try all you have to do is leave your name, email and why you'd like to win a PerfectaWash in the comment section. There haven't been a lot of entries so it gives you a really good running chance! :)

Bianca Gomez Backless Dress

Bianca Gomez Backless Dress by Bianca Gomez (click here to buy it from Le Black Book), ANNIEPOPSHOP gold cuffs.

Another dress and nail tutorial combo today.

I want to thank Le Black Book for making sure that my Bianca Gomez dress was personally delivered in time for the White Party I attended last weekend. I picked the Bianca Gomez backless dress in white, this dress also comes in pink which you can buy directly from here.

Bianca Gomez is the creative director for her own web-based label which she launched last year at just 19 years old. She designs amazing dresses such as the Midnight dress (which I'm obsessed with) and I can't commend her enough on her work! Show your support by buying a Bianca Gomez dress the next time you need a hot number for a night out :)

And before I leave, here is another quick and easy nail tutorial!

Twist and Marble

Front Twist Dress by ASOS, Gold Cuff by ANNIEPOPSHOP

There's no real back story to the ASOS twist dress. I just kind of woke up with good hair (which is a rarity) and decided it was a sign to snap up some pictures before I headed out the door. As you do.

Moving onto all things polish, there are thousands of water marble video tutorials and blogs about how to get a psychedelic rainbow of colours on your nails. For all the lacquer lovers out there that have tried it, I'm sure you'll agree that although your nails end up looking wonderful - it's a pretty messy and time consuming procedure and you end up using a lot of nail polish.

Here is a marbling technique that is going to save you a lot of nail polish, water and labour time. The end result may not be as sharp and pretty as what you'd get with traditional water marbling, but it's a good quick fix for the girls who don't have a lot of time on their hands... well in this case, on their nails.

What you'll need to marble your nails:
Photobucket -

  • Base coat colour of your choice. In this case I used China Glaze White on White.
  • The colours which you'd like to marble with. I used: China Glaze Great Barrier Beige, China Glaze Groovy Green, China Glaze Mod About You, China Glaze Agent Lavender
  • A sandwich bag. Yep, you read that right - a sandwich bag.

Step 1: Apply your base colour. I applied two coats of China Glaze White on White.
Photobucket

Step 2: Take your marble colours and drop random blobs of each on your nail. I tried to stick to two blobs per colour. It doesn't matter if the blobs are messy, messy in this case isn't a bad thing!
Photobucket

Step 3: Place your sandwich bag over your freshly blobbed nail while its still wet and pat it on to spread the colours. Here's a heads up - I realized after doing about 2 more of these that I probably should have put sticky tape around my nails so that I didn't need to remove the excess nail polish with a swab of remover afterwards.
Photobucket

Step 3: Clean the edges of your nails and apply a top coat and you should get something similar or even better than this:

This whole process only took me around 10 minutes to do. If you end up using this lazy girl's guide to nail marbling I'd love to see what you end up with!

Hope you're all having a wonderful weekend :)

Vintage scalloped blazer, Ladakh cobalt skirt, Forcast collared shirt, ANNIEPOPSHOP gold collar necklace, Belt by Sheike, Givenchy Antigona bag in beige, YSL arty ovale ring in green.

When my grandmother and I lived together, she'd often come into my room and ask me to paint her nails. As a thank you gift she would give me some hair rollers or leave hand-me-downs on my bed from her closet. Although I haven't quite found a use for some of the shoulder padded neons (that she must have kept from her wild child days! haha), there is one bright blue scalloped blazer that I'm beginning to warm up to. I guess it makes this outfit "something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue" -  thank you grandma :)

For those that have Liked my Facebook page, you may have noticed my recent posts about Joe Button. A few weeks back I attended the Online Retailer Industry Awards and along with the great food and company, I was able to meet some new and amazing people including Melissa and Modi - the girls behind Joe Button.

This week, the M&M gave me the wonderful opportunity of visiting the Joe Button office to catch up over coffee and design my very own shirtdress!

With the Founders of Joe Button, Melissa and Modi.

In case you haven't heard of Joe Button, they sell custom-fitted men's and women's shirts as well as women's shirtdresses. So if you've been struggling to find the right size and style for workwear then their site lets you design your own shirt/shirtdress by allowing you to mix and match different designs, colours, fabrics and even initial embroidery.

While I was at their office designing my shirtdress, I was able to scour through and then compulsively clean their swatch pile haha. I had such a good morning with the Joe Button team and the fun has only just begun since I'm now eagerly anticipating the arrival of my new shirtdress! I will be able to share it with you once its here and to design your own click here.

Another highlight of last week was attending the 18th Biennale of Sydney on Cockatoo Island. Biennale comes around once every two years and it is Australia's biggest festival of contemporary art. Below are glimpses from three of my favourite exhibits.
Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

The ferry to Cockatoo island is free and there is no charge to see the exhibits so if you have a spare weekend to soak in some some sun and contemporary art, hop on that ferry!

I hope that you have all been well. Speak again soon (: x
